A Democrat-aligned activist group is raising massive sums to disrupt Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations—just as attacks on agents hit record highs. The group, called Save America Movement, has already amassed more than $750,000 to fund mobile “response teams” tasked with tracking and confronting ICE during enforcement actions in California.
According to fundraising texts obtained by Townhall columnist Dustin Grage, the group plans to launch “Liberty Vans”—vehicles staffed with lawyers, veterans, chaplains, and videographers. Their mission is to “follow ICE raids in real time,” expose agents’ actions to the public, and effectively obstruct federal immigration enforcement.
The campaign appears to be catching fire. As of Monday, the group had collected over $764,000, a dramatic leap from $280,000 just days earlier. Using the Democrat fundraising platform ActBlue, Save America Movement aims to reach $1 million for its operations.
The effort comes at a time when Department of Homeland Security officials say physical assaults on ICE agents are nearly seven times higher than this time last year. Violence has spiked nationwide, with recent incidents including two shootings at ICE and Border Patrol facilities in Texas and full-blown riots in California.
“While ICE and CBP officers are being assaulted by rioters and dodging bullets to save children, Sanctuary politicians are demonizing ICE and CBP,” DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said. She condemned efforts to dox or obstruct law enforcement, warning that “we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.”
The Save America Movement was officially launched in June, but its political ties run deep. Its steering committee includes Democratic operatives and progressive figures like Erika Alexander, Rev. Dr. William Barber, and Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt. Alexander and Barber are regular speakers at Democratic National Conventions, and Schmidt—despite a break with the GOP—remains a high-profile anti-Trump strategist.
The group’s stated mission is to “confront MAGA” and mobilize voters, but its most visible campaign centers on ICE resistance. Its fundraising pitches frame ICE raids as lawless and anonymous, painting agents as militarized threats to local communities. In reality, ICE is carrying out lawful orders—often targeting criminals and uncovering serious abuses, like the recent discovery of unaccompanied minors working illegally at a cannabis farm in Camarillo, California.
That same farm raid became a flashpoint. Protesters clashed with ICE officers and federal agents near the scene, with media photos showing law enforcement pulling individuals from vehicles and blocking agitators trying to breach the perimeter. While Democrats cry “abuse,” DHS insists these agents are facing dangerous resistance just for doing their jobs.
Save America Movement’s own leadership hasn’t stayed on the sidelines. Barber and fellow committee member Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove were arrested during a June protest in Washington, D.C. targeting President Trump’s budget bill. Though the protest had nothing to do with immigration, it showcased the group’s willingness to engage in direct confrontation.
Despite repeated inquiries, Save America Movement declined to comment to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The escalation in ICE confrontations reflects a broader strategy among progressive activists: to delegitimize border enforcement by any means necessary. Their goal appears to be not just to document raids, but to intimidate agents and interfere with arrests.
Critics warn that the growing hostility toward ICE is having dangerous consequences. With each protest, the chance of violence increases—and law enforcement officials are now forced to defend not just our borders, but themselves.
As DHS battles rising threats and attacks, this latest surge in anti-ICE activism adds another volatile layer to an already chaotic immigration crisis. Whether these “Liberty Vans” become rolling legal teams or mobile flashpoints remains to be seen—but either way, America’s border war just got hotter.
