The dangerously anti-American treatment of Donald Trump by our so-called “justice” system is gaining support for him from some surprising quarters. Even people who have been vehement Trump haters for the past few years are starting to get nervous about the idea of the Democrats turning America into a communist hellhole where it’s okay to jail people for political beliefs. The latest example is the leftist billionaire Mark Cuban, who has surprisingly come to Trump’s defense.

President Trump’s attorneys informed a New York court this week that it would be impossible to post the state’s outlandish $454 million bond before he can appeal Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision against him. Last month, Engoron ruled that Trump was guilty of exercising standard real estate practices which are perfectly legal, and therefore Trump has to pay a half-billion-dollar fine for a completely victimless crime. Trump isn’t allowed to appeal the decision unless he posts the $454 million. It’s crazy.

Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) decided to take a victory lap on Twitter:

“Trump claims he is a billionaire. But he can’t pay a $464 million judgment. That means he is lying. How do I know? Math.”

For those who don’t know, Ted Lieu is constantly in a three-way race with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) for the title of the Dumbest Member of Congress. Math is not his strong suit.

Speaking very slowly so that Ted Lieu could keep up, Mark Cuban responded, “Net worth is completely different than cash in the bank.”

It’s very possible that Ted Lieu thought Trump would have $454 million sewn into his mattress because he is that financially illiterate.

“You are wrong on this topic Ted,” continued Cuban. He went on to say that in a zero-interest environment, it would have been “dumb” for Donald Trump to keep that much cash in liquidity. It feels like we’ve turned a major corner when even a Trump-hater like Mark Cuban comes to the former president’s defense.
