Kamala Harris Takes the Lead When It Comes to Fundraising

There is less than two weeks until election day. Most people have already cast their vote or have decided who they are going to vote for. Does fundraising still matter? Will any amount of spending make a difference at this point?

There has been a lot of discussion about the fundraising dynamics between the campaigns of former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris as of September 2024. Trump’s campaign has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) against Harris, alleging a campaign finance violation due to the transfer of funds from Biden’s campaign to hers.

This complaint claims that Harris is misusing campaign finance rules by simply renaming Biden’s campaign committee to hers, which Trump’s team argues constitutes an illegal contribution from Biden to Harris, potentially amounting to the largest campaign finance violation in U.S. history.

In response to this situation, Trump’s campaign accuses Harris of committing what they describe as a “fraudulent” repurposing of campaign funds, suggesting that this move could affect the integrity of campaign donations and the political process.

However, Harris’s campaign has not yet officially responded to these allegations, and the outcome of this FEC complaint remains uncertain. This development comes amidst both campaigns making various policy promises to voters, with Trump and Harris focusing on differing economic and social policy issues for the upcoming election.

In about two weeks, will find out whether the last-minute fundraising really mattered or not.
