Senator JD Vance unleashed a blistering rebuke this week against what he calls the “fraudulent” liberal media, accusing them of weaponizing the Jeffrey Epstein scandal to attack Donald Trump while conveniently ignoring decades of inaction from the political and media elite.

Appearing on BlazeTV’s The Mandate, Vance pointed out a simple but damning truth: “For four years under Joe Biden’s Department of Justice, the media didn’t give a damn about the Epstein files or about the Epstein case.” His criticism wasn’t limited to Democrats. He slammed both the Obama and George W. Bush administrations for “going easy” on Epstein, failing to investigate the billionaire pedophile despite clear warning signs.

Now that President Trump has called for full transparency around the Epstein files, the media has suddenly found its moral outrage—but only because it’s Trump at the helm.

Decades of Silence, Suddenly Broken

Vance’s central argument is that Trump is the only president who’s actually trying to force transparency on the Epstein case. He asked a pointed question: “How is it that Trump is the one being scrutinized when he’s demanding what his predecessors refused to touch?”

His comments come amid renewed scrutiny of the Department of Justice and high-profile Epstein documents that remain sealed. The press, which was largely silent as Epstein flew VIPs to his private island for decades, is now loudly demanding answers—just as Trump pushes to declassify the names of those implicated.

Vance made it clear: “You guys want to talk about Epstein? You didn’t want to talk about Epstein for years. We actually are. You can screw off.”

Media Hypocrisy Laid Bare

BlazeTV host Jill Savage praised Vance for turning the tables. “He’s actually going through and turning this back on the establishment,” she said. “This isn’t something that just came up in the last six months. This has been going on for years and years and years.”

Her co-host Matthew Peterson agreed, noting that the media and Democrats only revived the Epstein narrative because they saw a chance to attack Trump. “This was like the uppercut,” Peterson said. “They thought they finally had something—but Vance flipped it right back on them.”

Vance’s remarks have energized conservatives who’ve long accused the media of protecting elites tied to Epstein, including celebrities, politicians, and corporate power players. Trump allies have pointed out that calls for disclosure only became fashionable once Trump was in a position to make it happen.

Trump’s DOJ Pushes for Transparency

President Trump’s decision to order the DOJ to fully disclose Epstein-related materials marks a significant break from past administrations. Though critics claim the move is a political distraction, Vance argues the opposite: that it’s a long-overdue reckoning. And he’s daring the press to cover it honestly.

It’s a risky move politically, especially with some Epstein associates possibly tied to both parties. But it’s also a populist one, feeding into a broader narrative about accountability, elite corruption, and media double standards.

A New Frame for an Old Scandal

The Epstein story has always carried explosive potential, but the media has often treated it as toxic or off-limits. With Trump forcing the issue into the spotlight and Vance naming names, the dynamic has shifted. Now, the question isn’t why Trump is releasing the files—it’s why no one else ever did.

Whether the media engages in honest reporting or retreats back into partisan framing may determine how far this reckoning goes. But one thing is certain: JD Vance just made it a lot harder for the press to pretend the real problem started with Donald Trump.
