Representative Mike Lawler, the New York Republican, revealed on Sunday that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is conducting a “comprehensive forensic audit” of the federal government, aiming to root out waste, fraud, and inefficiency on a scale never seen before. Speaking on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo, Lawler hailed the initiative as a game-changer for President Donald Trump’s America First agenda. For conservatives, this is a long-overdue gut punch to the bloated bureaucracy Democrats built—proof the GOP’s serious about putting taxpayers first.
Lawler didn’t mince words when Bartiromo asked about DOGE’s progress.
“DOGE is doing a comprehensive forensic audit of the federal government to identify waste, fraud, and abuse,” he said. “This is the most aggressive effort to clean up Washington I’ve ever seen, and it’s about time.”
He pointed to DOGE’s early wins, already slashing $55 billion by axing funding for agencies like USAID, the Department of Education’s DEI programs, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Lawler’s not surprised the left’s losing it—over 70 lawsuits, including a Monday block on Education Department records, show their panic.
Bartiromo pressed him on balancing cuts with essential services.
“We’re not touching what works—border security, energy, jobs,” Lawler shot back. “We’re targeting the junk Biden left behind: student loan handouts, green energy flops, and foreign aid propping up China’s buddies. DOGE’s about getting results for Americans, not the swamp.”
He praised Musk’s leadership, noting, “Elon’s asking federal workers what they’ve done—like that email last week that had unions screaming. That’s accountability, plain and simple.”
The left’s meltdown only fuels the fire. New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver called DOGE’s cuts a “war” during D.C. protests, while Senate Democrats cry unconstitutional. A federal judge’s Friday ruling granting DOGE Treasury access proves they’re not winning. Republicans see through the noise—Biden’s deficits pushed the national debt past $35 trillion, and his open borders drained resources while families struggled.
Conservatives know this audit’s the key. Trump’s January 20 “emergency price relief” memo sets the stage—cut waste, save cash, and prioritize Main Street. Lawler’s revelation is a battle cry: the GOP’s not backing down, and the left’s tantrums won’t stop the purge. With DOGE’s audit in full swing and the base behind them, Republicans are set to deliver a leaner, stronger America—exactly what voters demanded in 2024.
