Harris for President? Only a Cheat Could Save This Doomed Campaign

This week marks a historic low in Democrat politics as they try the impossible: making Kamala Harris the president. They’re attempting to sell the American public on a rejected candidate in 2020 with hundreds of millions of dollars. It’s laughable.

Joe Biden recently announced he’s stepping down as the nominee and is throwing his weight behind Vice President Kamala Harris. He didn’t endorse her to give her a fighting chance; he did it because her spot was already secured. With endorsements from the Clintons and an inevitable nod from Barack Obama, it’s clear she’s their chosen one. Kamala will be the Democrat nominee with no real competition at the upcoming party convention. And come November, she will lose. Unless, of course, there’s foul play.

Let’s not kid ourselves. This campaign is anything but typical or fair. After all the Democrats did to Donald Trump, including stirring up a violent atmosphere that led to an attempt on his life, they’ve now sidelined an incumbent president who had enough primary votes for reelection. This unprecedented move would be political suicide in any other context. Even pundits like Rick Wilson and Stuart Stevens would agree on that.

So now, we have Kamala Harris, a candidate rejected by her own party in 2020. She dropped out of the presidential primary before the first contest even took place. As vice president, she’s managed to become the least-liked individual in that position—her infamous phrase about being “unburdened by what was” seems more ironic now than ever.

Harris’s campaign won’t try to distance itself from Biden’s terrible record. She’s been his VP, supporting and defending every policy. There’s no way to pretend otherwise. As cynical as the Democrats are, they won’t even bother trying to act like it’s a new chapter. Harris will cling to Biden’s record, and Jill Biden, or “Dr. Jill,” will probably make sure of it. Kamala will awkwardly try to argue that it’s both a tremendous and imperfect record but still better than having Donald Trump back in office, painting him as the ultimate threat to democracy.

There’s no real support for this. The Democrats have swapped out a lifeless candidate for a live one, but it won’t make things better for them. Unless they resort to foul play or, heaven forbid another assassination attempt that actually succeeds.

At least with Biden, the Trump campaign had to tread carefully to avoid being seen as bullying a senior citizen. But with Harris, all bets are off. Trump is now free to go on the offensive. The Democrats might think they’ve pulled off a masterstroke, but they’ve just handed Trump an open field.

So here we are, watching the Democrats fumble yet again, setting themselves up for a massive loss in November. Kamala Harris will lose, and it will be spectacular unless they resort to the kind of underhanded tactics we’ve come to expect from them.
