Now that Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has successfully led an insurrection to overthrow Joe Biden in the presidential election, he’s desperately trying to pump up support for Kamala Harris as the nominee. At a press conference to endorse Kamala on Tuesday afternoon, Schumer had a moment that was even more pathetic than Jeb Bush’s infamous “Please Clap” speech in 2016.
When Jeb Bush made that fatal error in front of a small room of people in 2016, the Trump campaign instantly used it for their legendary “Low Energy Jeb” ad. It was a death blow to the Bush campaign. He never recovered from the “Low Energy” label. At least to Jeb’s credit, however, the people in the room did clap when he begged them to.
That’s more than Chuck Schumer can say after he tried to fire up a room full of people with his endorsement of Kamala Harris. Schumer appeared with another one of the insurrection leaders, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) to try to fire everyone up about Kamala.
When Schumer ended his usual fake rah-rah speech to the crowd, no one in the room started clapping at the mention of Kamala’s name. Maybe Schumer forgot that the vice president’s office had a record-high 92% staff turnover rate for the past three years because there’s literally almost no one in Washington, DC, who can stand her.
Schumer then begged the silent crowd, “Applause?”
The only response was crickets. It was one of the most cringe moments we’ve seen in the past month. Watch:
