If there was ever a time for the Democrats of Washington D.C., specifically our president, Joe Biden, to wake up and realize what a horrible idea the Iran Nuclear Deal is and was, it is now.
And that’s precisely the message the newly elected prime minister of Israel, Naftali Bennett, is trying to make Biden understand.
Naftali took office last week after effectively ousting former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. While that may lead some to believe that his choices and beliefs may differ significantly from his predecessor, Bennett’s policies so far seem to line up very closely with Netanyahu’s.
And his stance on the Iran Nuclear Deal is no different, meaning Bennett is very opposed to it.
Well, for starters, it would be hard-pressed for any real Israeli to agree with a partnership between one of their allies and a nation that has time and time again resorted to hatred and violence against their own.
But now, thanks to a recent presidential election in Iran, the nation’s new leader, Ebrahim Raisi, makes it even less likely that Israel will view their Middle Eastern neighbor favorably. And according to Bennett, the United States and Biden shouldn’t either.
In a recent statement, Bennett told the world, “Raisi’s election is, I would say, the last chance for world powers to wake up before returning to the nuclear agreement and understand who they are doing business with. A regime of brutal hangmen must never be allowed to have weapons of mass destruction. Israel’s position will not change on this.”
Bennett refers to the new Iranian leadership as a regime, well, because, as Fox News reports, there is reason to believe that the election wasn’t so much of a chance for the people to voice their opinion so much as an opportunity for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to rig it in his favor.
According to Fox, less than half of Iran’s eligible voters actually took part in the election, giving Raisi a win of 62 percent of the vote.
Additionally, multiple sources can verify that Raisi isn’t exactly a man of the people.
Politico notes that his name is explicitly tied to “thousands” of executions throughout Iran, many innocent political prisoners, most of them taking place near the end of the Iraq-Iran war in 1988. And the allegations of such mass murder have never been publicly addressed.
Bennett says of the man, “Of all the people Khamenei could have chosen, he chose the hangman of Tehran, the man infamous among Iranians and across the world for leading the death committees that executed thousands of innocent Iranian citizens throughout the years.”
And Biden wants to enter into a deal with this man that would relieve sanctions and allow him to eventually make nuclear weapons if they haven’t already.
Yeah, not so much of a good idea, is it?
Even before a man of this level of corruption was put in power, there were reasons to believe Iran would not be sticking to its end of the bargain.
For starters, the deal was to only last ten years, after which time, there was nothing to stop the Middle Eastern nation from acquiring whatever weapons of mass destruction they wanted.
Additionally, the deal really only limited the amount of uranium Iran was supposed to be able to enrich. It didn’t ban them from getting uranium or even processing it. As Business Insider says, the deal allowed the nation “to have enough enriched uranium to maintain the country’s energy needs, without having the ability to build a nuclear bomb.”
But what if they lied about how much uranium they were enriching? I mean, it’s not too far-fetched to believe that a country that is already enriching uranium could just doctor the books a little, right?
And, as I mentioned before, that was all before Raisi the Executioner took power.
As Bennett says, there is even more reason for concern now, and Biden should be taking note of it before signing a deal with the devil, so to speak.
Then again, it seems Iran and its new leader might not want to agree to anything with Biden anyway, essentially tying his hands on the matter conclusively.
